We wrapped up Sundiata today, and are starting the Iliad section of Epics! Today through Friday, we are working on travel brochures to ancient Greece and/or Rome. We'll knock out a few notes and vocabulary on Friday, and start reading on Monday. I can't wait for these kids to get to the final project! They're going to LOVE it!
First and second period Advanced World Lit classes reviewed the first section of Gilgamesh by writing slam poems and/or raps. Everyone did a fantastic job! I as very impressed with the amount of creativity the kids were able to incorporate into their assignments in such a short amount of time.
Today we are discussing various views of the afterlife: exploring views that we read about and how those views compare with our own. All week, we have been reviewing our new vocabulary and literary terms that we learned last week. We will take a quiz on ALL those words on Friday. As we finish our unit on Novels, we are writing an essay about Elie Wiesel's identity transformation throughout Night. Rough drafts are due on Wednesday, when we will be doing a peer review assignment. Final drafts are due on Thursday. On Thursday and Friday we will be watching a documentary of Elie Wiesel returning to Auschwitz with Oprah Winfrey.
Students, remember to post your rough draft WITH PEER EDITS ATTACHED to Schoology by the end of class on Wednesday. We will be turning in our final drafts on Schoolgy as well. MAKE SURE YOU ARE UPLOADING PDFs - AND NOT A PAGES DOCUMENT!!! I will show you how to do this again on Wednesday. |
